Wednesday Street Water Main Improvements
In line with its commitment to providing best-in-class utility services, the City of Tallahassee is gathering information related to the replacement of potable water infrastructure within portions of the Wednesday Street corridor between Potts Road and Capital Circle NE (State Road 319/County Road 261). The project limits are shown on the map below.
The purpose of this project is to replace approximately 2,100 linear feet of water mains as well as valves, fire hydrants, water services and meter settings. This investment will improve the City’s ability to continue providing safe, reliable drinking water and fire protection.
The City has contracted with a consultant to design these improvements. Beginning in November 2023, a land surveyor that is a part of the design team will be in the area collecting data such as right-of-way and utility easement boundaries; location, size, and depth of existing utilities; tree locations and sizes; the location of physical improvements within the right-of-way/easements; and topographic information.
As the surveyor gathers data, residents may notice paint markings and/or flags throughout the area depicting the location of buried utilities and other infrastructure. Please do not remove the flags or paint markings, which are used by the surveyor to collect and evaluate information needed for the design of the water system improvement project.
No construction activity will be occurring at this time. Construction of the project is tentatively planned to start in the fall of 2024. Additional information will be provided as this project moves forward.
