Cured in Place Pipe Lining
As part of our continued investment in infrastructure, the City of Tallahassee is taking a unique approach to upgrading sewer pipes throughout town called Cured in Place Pipe Lining (CIPP). When compared to traditional trench and replace methods, CIPP is a cost-effective method that reduces impacts to residents and motorists, while ensuring reliable service.
The process begins by exposing the forcemain at select locations and running a felt tube infused with a resin material through the existing pipe. The tube is then filled with hot water or steam to cure the resin. The result is essentially a new pipe inside of the existing pipe.
CIPP has been successfully used on projects around town, including enhancements on Alabama Street, South Meridian Street, Centerville Road, East 6th Avenue, Gay Street and Ausley Road.
