Pursuant to action of the Tallahassee City Commission, a Charter Review Committee was convened for a 90-day period from January to March, 2024 for purposes of reviewing certain aspects of the City Charter. Upon the conclusion of the review committee's activities, a Final Report was formally presented to the City Commission on March 27, 2024. Thereafter, the City Commission considered the various recommendations and proposals of the 2024 Charter Review Committee, taking action to forward five proposed Charter Amendments to the voters for consideration at the November 5, 2024 General Election. Each of the five proposed amendments are listed below, with links to pertinent materials extracted from the City Commission Meeting Agenda system.
The below questions are defined by Resolution Nos. 24-R-16 and 24-R-19, as adopted by the City Commission on May 8, 2024 and June 19, 2024, respectively. These questions formally present to voters the proposed amendments to the City Charter, as set forth in City Ordinances 24-O-20, 24-O-21, 24-O-22, 24-O-23, and 24-O-25.
QUESTION 1 - CHARTER AMENDMENT ADDRESSING THE SALARIES OF CITY COMMISSIONERS
Shall the Charter of the City of Tallahassee be amended to provide that members of the City Commission be paid an annual salary equal to the annual salary set by state law for members of the Board of County Commissioners of Leon County, Florida?

QUESTION 2 - CHARTER AMENDMENT EXPANDING JURISDICTION OF THE INDEPENDENT ETHICS BOARD
Shall the Charter of the City of Tallahassee be amended to provide that the Tallahassee Independent Ethics Board has jurisdiction over members of the City Commission when they are serving as board members of outside governmental agencies by reason of their city commission roles?
